About the Course

The Eye to Eye CYP Core Counselling Skills Course includes eight interactive workshops designed to provide a complete foundation for supporting children and young people.

Participants will explore active listening and empathy, learning how to understand and respond to the feelings of CYP in a safe, non-judgmental way.

The communication skills session develops strategies for engaging with different age groups and developmental stages.

Boundaries and safeguarding teach participants how to maintain professional, ethical relationships while recognising and responding to risk.

Emotional awareness and regulation focus on helping young people understand and manage their emotions effectively.

In conflict resolution and problem-solving, attendees learn practical tools to guide CYP through challenges and disagreements.

Supporting mental health and wellbeing covers identifying signs of anxiety, depression, and other common issues, and how to respond appropriately.

The creative approaches in the counselling workshop introduce techniques such as art, play, and storytelling to make sessions more accessible and engaging.

Finally, reflective practice and self-care ensure participants can evaluate their own practice, manage stress, and maintain personal well-being while working with CYP.

Together, these workshops provide a well-rounded, practical skillset for anyone supporting children and young people in educational, community, or professional settings.
