About the Course
This workshop explores the realities of sexting and sextortion and their impact on children and young people (CYP). It is designed to support volunteers, professionals, and those working with CYP to understand these behaviours within a developmental, social, and digital context, while responding in a safe, ethical, and informed way.
The session provides clear guidance on what sexting and sextortion are, why young people may engage in them, and the potential emotional, psychological, and safeguarding risks involved.
Particular attention is given to online pressure, consent, coercion, power imbalance, and the role of shame and fear in preventing disclosure.
The workshop aims to create a safe and respectful learning space where participants can reflect on their own responses to digital behaviours, challenge myths, and build practical skills for supporting CYP compassionately and effectively.
