About the Course
Sock puppets are a highly engaging and creative tool that allows children to explore and express their emotions in a safe, playful, and supportive environment. Emotional development is a crucial part of a child’s growth, yet many young children struggle to identify, articulate, and manage their feelings. Sock puppets provide a hands-on, imaginative approach that encourages children to externalise emotions, making them easier to understand and manage.
By giving children a puppet to act through, we create a safe distance between the child and their feelings, allowing them to explore even difficult emotions like anger, fear, or sadness without feeling judged or vulnerable. Puppets act as both a mirror and a voice, helping children recognise emotions in themselves and others and providing a non-threatening platform to practice expressing these feelings.
Through the process of creating and using sock puppets, children can experiment with different emotional expressions, scenarios, and coping strategies.
